Last year I went home every weekend from the Rochester Institute of Technology and that became an issue with a few of my friends. So, I decided to compile a list of reasons explaining why I hate being on–campus.
Why I hate being on–campus:
- I do not have a motor vehicle. Thus, I can never leave RIT except on weekends when I do leave. Two of my roommates—my roommates are great, BTW—have cars but I want to be able to leave whenever I want to without depending on anyone. Plus, it’s very depressing going between only my office, classes, and my apartment (I go to Java Wally’s and the SLC but that doesn’t make up for not being able to leave campus).
- There’s no roller hockey in Rochester—the closest rink is 30 minutes away and there are games there only one night per week (Sundays, eww).
- The Buffalo Sabres play home games only in Buffalo.
- My entire family is in Buffalo.
- My amazing dogs are in Buffalo.
- RIT is depressing.
- I’ll do what I damn–well want to.
- The hamster is driving me nuts.
So if you still feel I’m stupid for going home every weekend, then you suck.
